Virginia Regional Transit (VRT) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization specializing in providing high quality, affordable community transportation service solutions.
Our agency is based in Purcellville, Virginia and serves seventeen percent of the Commonwealth, operating within several different jurisdictions throughout Northern and Central Virginia. VRT's service area is extremely diverse and includes:
The associated diversity in land use and development patterns also means a wide range of transit needs throughout our service area. VRT strives to meet those needs while operating within the framework specific to each jurisdiction.
We offer our partner localities a comprehensive transit package including direct passenger service, transit system management and contracted transit-related services for public and private organizations. We also provide administrative services, including management of Commonwealth and Federal operating and capital grants and liaison with the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation.
We feel public transportation should be accessible to everyone, so we work to keep fares low to ensure that anyone is able to afford a ride. Each year we re-apply for local funding in the jurisdictions we serve to support and grow the service we offer. We also work closely with local governments to ensure that the citizens they represent have access to the best possible transportation options.
Because we offer each locality we serve the opportunity to name its respective bus service, we are known by several different names. Front Royal Area Transit (FRAT), Town of Orange Transit (TOOT), Circuit Rider, Coordinated Area Transportation (CATS), Culpeper Connector, and Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) Shuttle are all components of one company best known as Virginia Regional Transit—the solution to all your transportation needs.
