The following are some procedures adopted by Virginia Regional transit and is required for the passenger using the On-demand bus service. Please review carefully. Thank you.

VRT On-demand Overview:
VRT On-demand Hours of Operation: On-Demand service is a next day service that requires reservations to be made 1 day in advance to the desired trip and can be made by calling 540-338-1610.
Reservations can be made between the hours of 8:00am-400pm, Monday thru Friday. Trips can be scheduled up to 14 days in advance.  The hours of operations is
Preparation for Trip: Customers must be ready for his/her pick up 15 minutes before their scheduled pick-up time and they may be required to wait as long as 15 minutes after their scheduled pick-up time. Upon bus arrival to the passenger’s address, the drive can wait only 3 to 5 minutes and must leave to pick up the next passenger and your ride will be recorded as a no-show trip. Remember it is your responsibility to watch for the bus. Your readiness for your trips helps to keep our buses on schedule.

On-Demand is an origin to destination service and drivers are not allowed to come to the passenger’s door for service. Passengers must meet the bus in a safe location close to their home in order to keep the bus from doing any unsafe backing up. Drivers will assist wheelchair passengers on and off the wheelchair lift and with securing the wheelchair.

Cancellations: Passengers that have a scheduled trip that wish to cancel the trip must contact VRT at 540-338-1610 at least 1 hour before the scheduled pick-up time in order to cancel the trip. Any trip not cancelled 1 hour before the scheduled pick-up will be considered a No-show trip.

On-Demand fares: Eligible passengers will pay $1.00 each way for scheduled trips. Fares can be paid directly to the driver when boarding the bus and must be correct change.

Hours of operation are 7:00 am – 7:00 pm Monday to Friday.

Carry-on Bags: Passengers may only carry-on items (groceries, laundry, packages, etc.) that they are able to bring on and take off the bus themselves.

When additional assistance is required a person may require the assistance of a Personal Care Assistant (PCA). You are required to fill out on the application if you require a PCA and to identify all PCA’s that shall be traveling with you. If your needs have changed since you have been qualified eligible for On-Demand service you may be required to recertify. When you are scheduling your trip please make sure that you tell the dispatcher that you will have a PCA traveling along with you. PCA’s shall utilize the service at no charge.
Customers are required to pay for use of service at time of service being rendered. Service may be refused to anyone whose behavior may be hazardous to safe travel or is using profane language or making excessive noise.
Any person who is denied for eligibility for On-Demand service can submit an appeal letter to the VRT office at 109 North Bailey Lane, Purcellville, VA 20132.
